[OOC] Infopost Bandwagon: Newbie Edition!

So, Emma Swan...
Emma hails from the television show Once Upon a Time, and to start at a beginning...
Once upon a time in a distant land called the Enchanted Forest, Snow White...*looks at![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
fairest_blood*...uh, a different Snow White married her Prince Charming, only to have her wedding crashed by her step-mother Regina, the Evil Queen.
For reasons too complicated to go into right now, suffice it to say someone really needed a good therapist, Regina had cast a curse that would in time send them all to a horrible place without any happy endings. Maine.
Fortunately, Rumplestilskin, a completely trustworthy fellow who certainly hadn't engineered this entire situation for his own ends, nope, informed Snow and Charming that their unborn daughter was the Savior, who would escape the curse and upon her twenty-eighth birthday return to break it.
Unfortunately, due to various circumstances, including Geppetto blackmailing the Blue Fairy to get Pinocchio the second seat on the Curse-Free Express, and an extremely inconvenient early labour, the plan to send the massively pregnant Snow White to safety went awry, and Charming got baby Emma to safety mere minutes before the curse took hold.
Even more unfortunately, in this new and terrible world, newborn foundlings and former puppets are not adopted by kindly peasant-folk, but rather left to the tender mercies of the Department of Child Services, especially when puppet-boy decides to leg it.
But none of that's particularly important right now, since Emma's still over a decade from finding any of that out, what is important is that as far as Emma knows, her parents abandoned her on the side of a freeway as a newborn and she's been bounced around the foster system ever since. With all the trust issues and attitude that brings.
Not that she's likely to be telling you this anytime soon, because trust issues, but also because she's coming to Fandom as a runaway. She's got no idea who thinks she's actually enrolled here, she's willing to go with it while it lasts because there's a roof and food. Heads up that the runaway thing also means she's being a lying liar who lies about her age as she thinks people would be less inclined to report a runaway who's nearly sixteen versus one nearly fifteen.
Also, she has no idea why you crazy people all think it's 2013, because she's from 1998.
Looks wise, Emma is average height, with green-blue eyes and long, blonde, pretty, pretty princess hair. Until she gets a chance to acquire some newer ones, clothes are pretty obviously worn in or hand-me-downs.
A note on the powers front. Emma supposedly can tell if you are lying to her. Supposedly, because the writers are both vague and inconsistent on this as the plot requires (to the point of it even being a power or not). Since vague powers of vagueness aren't much fun, I'm just gonna go with it has to be directed at Emma and noted as untrue in narrative for her to pick up on anything suss, and there's about fifty million things that can interfere with even that much.
However on the powers which aren't vague as vague can be because our producers used to work on Lost front, Emma has magic. Powerful magic. In fact, because she's the product of True Love, potentially the most powerful magic.
She has less than no idea about her magic, and won't for a very long time, but if your character is the type to sense magic/taste auras/etc, it's there.
And just because gifs are fun, your Savior, ladies and gentlemen....

Date: 2013-07-05 03:12 pm (UTC)The shippers are actually really disconcerting at times, because you get the feeling that some of the really rabid ones don't actually like Emma very much, they're just stanning for Regina and she deserves to get the girl, regardless of the murder attempts and the cursing and all that.
